Mary Rust,
Biography
Born and raised in Loveland, Colorado, I was surrounded by magnificent
bronze sculpture and talented artists. I’ve always had an
appreciation of bronze, but never thought I could create such
beauty. It wasn’t until a good friend and sculptor, Walt
Horton, invited me to one of his seminars. It was that
invitation that created a spark of inspiration to attempt
sculpture. For Christmas that year, my husband gave me a pallet
of clay, armature, modeling tools and a receipt to attend a Walt
Horton/Lincoln Fox seminar. This is where it all began…
I’ve always been partial to sculpture of
children. As I watch my own children quickly grow and change, I
marvel at their natural innocence, imagination, creativity and
joy that they bring to the world. I remember thinking, “If a picture is worth
a thousand words, what would the value of that moment in bronze
be?” That’s when I decided to capture my children in bronze,
thus my motto, “Captivating Bronze”.
My children
are my inspiration. Their actions are the concepts I
recreate in bronze. I strive to capture their essence in
every piece I make, from the twinkle of their eyes to the curl
of their toes. I hope my work brings back the same innocence,
imagination, creativity and joy that is was created from.
I’ve been blessed to work with a fine group of
sculptors including: Walt Horton, Lincoln Fox, Valentin
Okorokov and Victor Issa. Their talents have guided me along my
journey and encouraged me to pursue my passion – sculpting. I
hope you enjoy this website and visit often. I thoroughly
enjoy getting to know every one of my clients. I wouldn’t be
able to pursue my passion without them.
Thank you and God Bless,
Mary Rust
